(comments) At present I sit in the lookers stand with my daughter Rachael, brother Tony, nephew Jack and our friend
Stan and his son Adam. This is mainly due to the better views afforded in this stand. However, having sat in the Earl
Barret stand aka Rochdale Road end for the Chelsea cup tie and having experienced the tremendous atmosphere,
acoustics and better views, I would though it breaks my heart to say it, prefere the Rochdale Road end as the
"home"end.

(comments) There are two reasons why I think theRochdale Road End
would not be better:
1)With our current crowds it might kill the atmosphere a lttle as it would feel a little empty.
2)I think we definitely play better when we attack the goal with our fans behind it in the second half, because it
rouses the crowd when they are closer to the goalmouth action, and it is advantageous to have the benefit of such
factors at a later, more definitive point in the match. Given this last point, I also feel it is of great benefit to play down
what is a much steeper slope than many realise, in the second half (a factor Joe Royle pointed out makes a bigger
difference than most fans realise). Therfore, as the slope descends to the 'chaddy end' we could not have the benefit of
both these factors in the same half, if the Rochdale Roade End was the home end.
However I would also point out that the issue of accoustics is a very significant one, so signiificant in fact, that I might be prepared to tolerate a temporary change of ends. However I think that the long term solution has to lie with a new roof for the chaddy end to improve the accoustics, and maybe get rid of those posts that can obscure the view. I realise we are hard up and can't afford a new stand, but perhaps a new roof is within our limits.
I would add that we should also be rather less kind to away fans as well. I don't want to sound cruel, but I've been to plenty of grounds where they do it to us and there is a definite advantage to be gained from it I feel. We should stick them in the remotest corner of the groud we can find, as far away from the action as possible so that it becomes more difficult to generate any kind of atmosphere and get behind their team.
Finally, this idea of keeping small away followings together within that tape(presumably to make stewarding easier) has prompted me to think that when we could do the same for home fans when not expecting a big crowd because this too seems to help generate an atmosphere. I'd also like to add that the biggest boost of all to the atmosphere would be to bring back standing. The atmosphere has never quite been the same at any ground since a lot of them were forced to go all seater.

when the sun is out and the view isn't much better when it is pouring down on you! Seriously though, I think it would
be a good move to move to the Rochdale Rd End - you really can't hear the home fans in the Chaddy because of the
roof. Sod tradition - that never helped win us any matches - MOVE NOW!

Unfortunately I now live in Birmingham so don't make it to as many games as I'd like. I think that it is totally

fans, and Oldham fans havent had much to shout about over the last few years.
The atmosphere at the Chaddy end is getting better, now we are turning the corner, and there is plenty of room at
present.
The club can get more revenue from large visiting teams as more away fans can be accomodated in the Rochdale
Road end.

(comments) Not living in Oldham any more, I don't often get to many home games. However, I do not believe that
switching the 'home end' to the Rochdale Road Stand will make an difference. It's still the same people shouting just
as loud, and any acoustic advantage is debatable. I mainly watch Latics away from home when they come down South
and there have been may occasions when a couple of hundred Latics fans have drowned out a far larger Home
crowd..."You're supposed to be at home!...". I just think that small away crowds try harder to make themselves heard,
therefore giving the imression that the Rochdale Road End somehow increases the support by 50 decibels.

(comments) I would put the away fans in the Looker stand and allow Latics supporters in both the Chaddy and the
Rochdale Rd Ends. I would stay in the Chaddy end. The disadvantage of the Rochdale Rd end are that the wind is
always in your face and the sun is in your eyes. On cold days the Rochdale Rd End must have a wind chill of probably
10-20 degrees compared to the cosy Chaddy end. On wet days the rain sweeps in causing fans to move to the back of
the stand to keep dry but if it were 1/2 full it wouldn't be possible for everyone to move back. To sum up the problems
with the Rochdale Rd end:
When its sunny it's in your eyes
When it rains, it's on you
When it's cold, then it really is Ice Station Zebra.
The good thing about the Rochdale Rd End is the acoustics.
So, let the hardier Latics supporters use the Rochdale Rd end so that the players get vocal
