CHADDY SEES RED

Chaddy Did you hear the one about the mascot 'Chaddy' the owl being sent off during a league game!!!!

It happened at Boundary Park during the game against Peterborough very early in the 2000-01 season. The linesman on the opposite side of the pitch to where Chaddy was standing 'flagged' Carlo Corazzin for offside. As there was three defenders between Carlo and the goal this seemed a poor decision.

After consulting the referee it was found that the Linesman had mistaken 'Chaddy' for Carlo and gave the owl offside. After much discussion on the touchline Chaddy was shown a red card and had to go off. We lost the game 4-1, the supporters claimed we never got over losing Chaddy so early on in the game. - Derek
